In England, councils can't charge householders for their own DIY waste up to two 50 litre bags, or one item up to 2000 x 750 x 700mm, per visit, for up to four visits in four weeks. They can charge above that. Check your load.

Vans, pickups and trailers

Permit needed

Permit needed for vans/utility vehicles, cars with double-axle trailers (up to 3m) and pedestrians. Types: annual permit (recyclables only, unlimited visits, one year); general waste permit (valid one month, one visit per household, waste type declared); pedestrian permit. Cars with single-axle trailers up to 3m need none. Not allowed: vans towing trailers, more than four wheels, trailers over 3m, tippers, tail-lift and Luton vans, agricultural vehicles, horse trailers.
