Free DIY allowance

'A limited free allowance for DIY type waste is available to households': four single visits per household in any four-week period, each visit up to 2 rubble bags (which can be safely carried by the depositor) or one unbagged item up to a maximum of two metres in length; loose waste not eligible. 'Tyres and Bonded Asbestos are not subject to the free allowance and will incur charges'

From Devon's pages, quoted or summarised.

In England, councils can't charge householders for their own DIY waste up to two 50 litre bags, or one item up to 2000 x 750 x 700mm, per visit, for up to four visits in four weeks. They can charge above that. Check your load.
