Free DIY allowance

The council's pages didn't describe a free allowance.

In England, councils can't charge householders for their own DIY waste up to two 50 litre bags, or one item up to 2000 x 750 x 700mm, per visit, for up to four visits in four weeks. They can charge above that. Check your load.

Vans, pickups and trailers

Permit needed

Vans and large trailers must pre-arrange the visit ('Book a permit' via My Halton). Veolia: van/large trailer visits limited to one per vehicle/household per week, max 12 a year; whole-day booking, no time slot.

Do I need to book?

No booking needed for cars

Good to know

Halton sites are provided by Halton Council, not MRWA, and Merseyside van bookings are not open to Halton residents. Council map link gives Runcorn postcode WA7 4UB; MRWA gives WA7 4UD. Commercial waste not allowed.
