Council's price list

Free DIY allowance

DIY/construction waste is 'restricted': you need an authorisation letter in advance for each visit (valid only on the requested day). 'As a resident of Newham, you can visit the site to deliver restricted items on two days in any 12 month period if you have received authorisation to do so.' After that, commercial rates apply.

From Newham's pages, quoted or summarised.

In England, councils can't charge householders for their own DIY waste up to two 50 litre bags, or one item up to 2000 x 750 x 700mm, per visit, for up to four visits in four weeks. They can charge above that. Check your load.

Vans, pickups and trailers

No permit scheme stated

Vans and vehicles towing trailers must be booked in advance (via ELWA). No Luton vans, flat beds, tail-lift vans or tippers. Hire vehicles: bring the hire agreement. ANPR flags frequent visitors.
