Council's price list

Free DIY allowance

Council adopts the government approach for residents only: free if no more than four visits per household over a four-week period and per visit no greater than two 50L rubble bags or 1 bulky or fitted item no larger than 2000mm x 750mm x 700mm (e.g. bathtub). Otherwise construction waste and charged. Evidence of residency needed; current charges remain for non-residents and those unable to prove their address.

From Stoke-on-Trent's pages, quoted or summarised.

In England, councils can't charge householders for their own DIY waste up to two 50 litre bags, or one item up to 2000 x 750 x 700mm, per visit, for up to four visits in four weeks. They can charge above that. Check your load.

No permit scheme stated

Drivers of commercial vehicles (vans, campervans with no seats, panel vans) and vehicles with trailers must show their driving licence to prove Stoke-on-Trent residency, up to a maximum of twelve times per year 'as per our old permit scheme'.
