Free DIY allowance
The council's pages didn't describe a free allowance.
In England, councils can't charge householders for their own DIY waste up to two 50 litre bags, or one item up to 2000 x 750 x 700mm, per visit, for up to four visits in four weeks. They can charge above that. Check your load.
Vans, pickups and trailers
Permit needed: Free ('Making an appointment is easy to do and is free of charge')
Free appointment required for vans of any size and large trailers (2-3m), cars with rear seats removed or blanked windows, and single-cab pick-ups; maximum 12 visits over the year (including garden waste). Book online; no next-day bookings after 4pm.
Do I need to book?
No booking needed for cars
Standard cars do not need to book. Vans of any size, trailers 2-3m (external box), cars with rear seats removed or blanked windows, and single-cab pick-ups must book a free appointment online (account required; next-day bookings not after 4pm).
